The Red River & Gulf Railroad was one of four railroads to operate in Long Leaf. It was the common carrier that ran between Meridian, Long Leaf, Lecompte, and Kurthwood to handle freight and passengers. The RR&G was shut down in 1953, but parts have been reconstructed today for guests to ride. There is so much interesting information on the RR&G that we had to create a website dedicated to it. Visit the RR&G site for more information.
Today the RR&G operates a one-mile loop around the town and mill complex of Long Leaf. Trains are run on an as-needed basis and generally utilize FC&G Motor Car 4. Passengers board at the Commissary/Depot. Read about the history of area railroading, and then come take the train for a ride!
